Cubs Slip By Dodgers

Cubs 10 – Dodgers 6

The game started under threatening conditions with lightening flashing in the skies just to the right of the field.  The Dodgers came out fast scoring 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning knowing the game probably would not go 7 innings.  The Cubs came right back with a 5 spot in the bottom of the inning highlighted by Scott Cooper’s 2 run triple.  The Cubs would score 2 more runs in the 2nd and carry a 7-4 lead into the 3rd when the wind picked up and started blowing from right to left bringing the storm over the field.  Neither team would score in the 3rd but the lightening was becoming the biggest threat.  The Dodgers opened the 4th with 4 straight hits and scored 2 runs cutting the Cub lead to 7-6.  The Cubs answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning for a 10-6 lead when lightening flashed all around the field.  The game was stopped to the disappointment of both teams but it was the correct call as there was a definite threat to both the players and the fans if the game had continued.  Scott Tyson lead the way for the Cubs with 3 hits, 3 runs scored, and 1 RBI.  Mike Dawson and Scott Cooper each added 2 hits.  Rob Brehm, Jody Shaul, and Tim Barnes had 2 hits for the Dodgers.
